Samsung and SmartThingsIt hasn't been that long since we wrote about Samsung discussing a possible buyout with SmartThings. Exactly one month has passed since then and the result of the negotiations is here. Samsung officially announced that it bought the company SmartThings for 200 million US dollars, which is about 4 billion CZK or 143 million Euros. However, along with this, it was also announced that SmatThings will still remain somewhat independent and will continue to manufacture smart home appliances as it has done so far.

Thanks to the purchase of SmartThings, Samsung can become the leader of home appliance manufacturers, at least it plans to do so by 2015, SmartThings could then reach more world markets thanks to this action. Google also resorted to a similar step some time ago, as it agreed with the company Nest to buy it out, but for a somewhat higher amount in the form of 3,2 billion dollars (approx. 64 billion CZK, 1.8 billion Euro).
