According to the latest reports, Samsung was to show significant changes in the development of its products. The South Korean company is to introduce tablets next year that will use new digitizers made of metal mesh, which will ensure 20-30% cheaper production of its tablets and thus also their price. It is not known whether the technology will apply only to tablets from the series Galaxy Tab, or the Ativ series is also used.

Samsung's main goal is to replace the ITO technology, which today is quite expensive and the company cannot provide enough units when using it. Samsung had to accept several 7- and 8-inch panels these days, so it is obvious that Samsung will first start with the cheaper production of smaller tablets that are more affordable than classic tablets. The first tablets with this technology may appear as early as the first half of next year, as the company wants to finish testing them by the end of this month.

The use of metal mesh digitizers is only the first step of the revolution that Samsung is preparing. Because metals are used, the digitizer is flexible, which is also the reason why the company is starting to work on the first flexible displays for tablets. However, the tested digitizer suffers from a problem that manifests itself on screens with a pixel density above 200 ppi. This is when an unwanted effect occurs, in which the image ripples at very high resolutions. However, Samsung designed the technology in such a way that this problem could be avoided and high resolutions could also be used on the devices. The Korean company halved the thickness of the sensor. The company is also testing technology that would allow the stylus to be used without a digitizer.
