The new Magazine UX experience found on new tablets with the system Android 4.4 "KitKat", according to Samsung's official statement, cannot be turned off. Samsung confirmed this to ComputerWorld. New tablets Galaxy TabPRO a Galaxy NotePROs offer a new "tiled" environment, which is significantly different from the TouchWiz environment on older devices with Androidom.

The environment itself has become a target of criticism, especially because it was designed by Samsung itself without any cooperation with Google. That is why Google is not very satisfied with the new environment and even asked Samsung to change this environment. The environment is primarily intended to offer simple access to important applications with a single click, while users can customize this UI themselves as needed. The environment takes some inspiration from the system Windows 8, which can be seen in the square, flat look of the entire Magazine UX.

A Samsung spokesperson confirmed that this environment won't be able to be turned off on the "Pro" series tablets: “Users cannot turn off Magazine UX. It is built right into these tablets. Users can add or remove screens with Magazine UX and replace them with a standard screen Androidu, but at least one screen with the Magazine UX environment must be active in the system." The spokesperson did not confirm whether Samsung will add an option to completely disable Magazine UX in the future or remove it in the future. The management of Google requests that the environment on future devices with Androidom looked as similar as possible to what the "Vanilla" versions offer Androidu, which we see for example on Nexus devices.
