If you are one of our loyal and long-term readers, you may have noticed quite a few reviews of the Camelot app in the past. So that we don't go around the hot mess unnecessarily, Camelot can be summarized as a comprehensive application that has only one task - to protect your data, no matter what it costs. When it comes to security, most of you in the world of technology probably think of Touch ID or Face ID, some form of encryption, or perhaps a strong password. If all these elements make up the word "security", then I would personally define Camelot as security second, maybe third or fourth. If you need to protect your data, in a real way and not just for the sake of it, then you need Camelot.

As I mentioned above, we have already looked at Camelot in several reviews, which were published in our magazine. As part of this article, we will not primarily deal with the basic functions, although we will at least briefly summarize them at the beginning. The main reason we're here today is the new Camelot app update that came out a few days ago. The developers of this application take practically all comments to heart and try to see everything completed. Since I have been in contact with the developers of the application practically since the very birth of Camelot, I can completely objectively evaluate how much the application has changed during that time of development. If you were to put the first version of Camelot and the latest version side by side, you would think that they are two different applications.

The first versions of the application were definitely not bad, but I dare to say that, for example, the complex control, which, among other things, is largely due to the complexity of the application, could discourage many potential users. To be completely honest, at first I didn't even want to use Camelot, but after using it for some time I learned everything I needed and found out what and how it works. Unfortunately, there are not many such users - these days, everything is evaluated by the packaging and not by the content, so if the user found that he could not make friends with Camelot's interface, he held his finger on the application on the home page and clicked on Delete application. You can't change the user, so everything is again left to the developers of the application. Over time, they have completely overhauled the controls, and after several hard months of development, we have reached this point, the current latest update, where the controls, still taking into account the complexity of the application, have been refined to the last detail.

Camelot's basic features

The Camelot application has the task of turning your phone into an impregnable castle - that's why the corresponding application icon is chosen. It should be noted that the application is definitely doing well. One of the main functions of the Camelot application includes the so-called multi-level security, loosely translated as multi-level security. Thanks to this, you are able to store your data in several different levels. This means that after authorization, you will only see data that is in a specific level. So you always unlock only what you need, which is absolutely key. Imagine unlocking some no-name "security app" somewhere on the street, which contains all your data, locked only with Touch ID or Face ID. If someone snatched the phone from your hand, they would immediately gain access to all data, or the attacker would certainly force you to authorize. However, if someone picks up your phone with the Camelot app open, they will only be able to access the data you had stored on a particular level and have no way of knowing how many other levels you have and how they can access them. Even if someone held a gun to your head, it is enough to tell the password to the "wrong" level - the attacker will think that he has obtained all the data, but the truth is somewhere else.

Changes in the interface

Let's take a look together in this paragraph at the news we have received in the interface field. The display of directories has undergone a big change, which is now not displayed in the form of a list, but in the form of tiles with icons, which is clearer and more convenient for most users. Of course, you can easily change the interface, back to the list, or perhaps to smaller icons. Similar to, for example, macOS, Camelot remembers which view you used in specific directories. When you change the view, the changes will not be reflected in the entire application, but only in a specific place – different forms of display are ideal for different types of files, i.e. for example documents in a sheet and photos in icons or tiles. In addition to the name, you can also distinguish the individual directories with an icon, which again adds to the clarity of the application. In addition, it will appear to users after each update when the application is launched informace about what's new so that they can take full advantage of the news right away. It is really interesting to observe how these small changes can significantly affect the look of the entire application. At first, when it used the list view, the app looked more professional, but now it looks like it wants to be friends with everyone.

The WhatsApp fiasco

It's been pretty obvious for some time now that the practices of Facebook and other tech companies aren't entirely clean. It pops up from time to time informace about another mess caused by Facebook, more will surface later informace about how Google managed to find out how many times its users go to the bathroom. Nowadays, you can't avoid being watched practically anywhere on the Internet. At the beginning of the year, WhatsApp, and thus Facebook, which is behind this application, was responsible for the last huge blow. He informed users of the aforementioned communication application about certain changes that were to occur in a few weeks. Most of us would confirm these changes and move on, a few "watchers" noticed new conditions that are not quite right for most users. Specifically, Facebook was supposed to gain access to a lot of other user data from the app, which would then be used to target ads more precisely. There have even been speculations that Facebook should be able to browse your messages – even though WhatsApp has end-to-end encryption enabled.

Originally, these changes were supposed to take effect already in February, but Facebook decided to move the implementation of the new conditions to May, saying that nothing much would be changed. He only plans to better explain the whole situation to users so that they don't have to worry. Unfortunately, this practice did not quite "smell" to millions of users who decided to switch to competing chat applications. But the problem is that you can hardly trust anyone these days. For example, WhatsApp says it offers end-to-end encryption, but Facebook is supposed to be able to use your messages for ad targeting, as mentioned in the paragraph above. It is therefore very likely that we will see similar practices from other large communication applications. And if not now, then in some time when they will become even more popular - because money can do wonders. Of course, Camelot cannot match WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, Messenger and others in terms of user base. But if you are looking for a chat app where you will have 100% privacy and where you can plan even the biggest crimes, Camelot is it. After all, in order to be able to connect with someone within Camelot, you must first meet in person and connect with devices. And in such a complicated but 100% safe way, it works with everything here.

Image compression and PDF creator

It can be said that the core of the Camelot application is already finished in a way. As for changes, we can more or less only look forward to further improvements to the user interface, or perhaps to the addition of various new functions. Of course, you can also use Camelot for storing all kinds of images, among other things. Year by year, the quality of photos improves, which, among other things, also increases their size, which attacks the limit of 10 MB per image. If you own a device with a smaller storage capacity, you may suddenly find yourself in trouble. Sure, there are countless different apps you can use to shrink photos. But do you really want to provide your personal photos in the application to someone you have never seen in your life and will never see? Personally, I definitely don't. Because of this, they came up with a new function in Camelot, with which you can easily reduce the size of images directly in it. So you don't have to upload anything anywhere, you can do everything within a single application - from taking a picture with a secure camera, to reducing it with the help of a new function, to saving it in an encrypted directory.

I would also like to mention the PDF creator, which is also a new part of Camelot. As the name suggests, this function is used to create PDF files. Within Camelot, you can create a PDF file from an entire directory with just a few clicks. However, don't worry that you could only use text. PDF creator offers dynamic content support, so you can save not only text but also photos (with GPS coordinates, which is one of the other new features), links to websites, email addresses and much more in a single document. And the use? Unlimited. Everything is sent via PDF these days. Let's say, for example, that you are writing a diary or that you need to keep records of something. After a month of creating one entry every day, you can combine all the data into one PDF file that you can quickly share again, or save it safely in Camelot. I emphasize once again that all this happens in a single application, without the need to install any add-ons or anything else that could compromise security.

Some more news

There are many more novelties in the latest version - if we were to list them here one by one, this article would be so long that no one would read it. Therefore, in this paragraph we will quickly summarize other news that are no longer so important, but they deserve their place here. This is, for example, the ability to instantly share a website URL to Camelot. Just tap the share icon in Safari, then tap Camelot, which will instantly save the current address. The file is then automatically assigned a globe icon, which is related to the above-described new feature in the interface. And the use? For example, creating your own database of bookmarkers (FAQ, recipes, jokes,...) with quick search - not everything has to be protected against access. We can also mention the possibility of recording GPS coordinates for photos - if you click on the coordinates, you can immediately view them on the map. In addition, the full-screen image viewing mode, which can be quickly exited by swiping from top to bottom, has also been improved. The photo presentation has also been improved, including the ability to start it - now you just need to hold your finger on one of the images in the directory, which will automatically start the presentation.

záver

If you want to protect yourself in today's digital age, i.e. if you want to protect your precious data, Camelot can serve you perfectly. Nowadays, Camelot is no longer just an app where you can lock your data. He was never such an application, but after the last updates it is doubly true. Camelot is becoming an application that wasn't here, isn't, and most likely won't be here - it goes completely against the flow. Just think about how various applications and services process user data, which is balanced in gold these days - practically everything is abused or sold in some way. Camelot now offers countless different tools that used to make you download weird apps from the App Store, all with 100% security. You should definitely not see Camelot as just a tool for individuals. Thanks to the already mentioned tools (and those not mentioned), other functions and especially security, it can also be used in the field of business and business, which should be noted. If you care about your personal data and want to eliminate as much as possible the risk that someone could get hold of the data, think of the impregnable castle in the form of the Camelot application.
