Wear a watch instead of a phone? It doesn't have to be science fiction, as it seems at first glance. Samsung is reportedly preparing a new Gear 2 watch model that would allow you to make phone calls without having to carry your mobile phone with you. Sources told The Korea Herald that the third type of Samsung Gear 2 does not yet have a set release date, but it should be developed in collaboration with South Korean operator SK Telecom.

The source said that this watch will be enriched with a USIM module, thanks to which it will be able to make calls even without the user having to connect it to the phone first. It must be noted that we have been waiting for something like this for a long time, since the Gear 2 itself already contains a microphone and a speaker. Gear 2 with USIM card support should be sold exclusively by the operator SK Telecom, but it is not excluded that they will reach other countries later. However, the question remains how Samsung handles battery life. The Gear 2 lasts approximately 2-3 days with active use or 6 days with occasional use on a single charge. However, the presence of a SIM card will have a significant impact on battery life, so it is possible that Samsung will either add a larger battery or limit the features. However, it is not excluded that they will simply have lower endurance.
