Samsung has already published the first version of its developer SDK for Tizen these days Wearable, which developers can use to start building apps for the Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. Creating apps for the watch is considered a positive development, but some developers still wonder why they can't create their own apps for the Samsung Gear Fit. The real reason is that the Gear Fit uses a completely different operating system than the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, or anything Samsung has developed so far.

The Gear Fit uses its own real-time operating system (RTOS), which is much simpler and offers longer battery life thanks to low hardware requirements. This is also the main reason why the Gear Fit can last 3-4 days of use on a single charge, while the Gear 2 only lasts about 2 days of active use. Seshu Madhavapeddy, Senior Vice President of Samsung Telecommunications America, confirms this.

The fact that the Gear Fit operating system can make do with weaker hardware also results in limited functions and rather complex programming of applications directly for the Gear Fit. System compatibility Android however, it will ensure that developers can create smartphone apps that can send notifications to the Gear Fit screen.
