Russian Minister of Telecommunications Nikolai Nikiforov confirmed that government officials of the Russian Federation stopped using their iPad tablets and replaced them with Samsung tablets. The reason for this is security concerns, which were manifested especially after the information appeared that the American security agency NSA was monitoring the communications of various devices, including those from Apple. Therefore, the Russian government concluded an agreement with Samsung and started using special tablets that were fully adapted for the government sector and provide the highest level of security.

At the same time, Nikiforov dismissed any speculation that the Russian government has stopped using American technology in response to Western sanctions over its annexation of the Crimean peninsula. However, this is not the first time that the government has started using devices from Samsung. Already last week, The Wall Street Journal published the claim that the technology team of the White House is testing specially modified phones from Samsung and LG that the current US President Barack Obama could start using instead of a BlackBerry phone.
