It is certainly a question that every fan of this technological giant has asked themselves at least once. And it didn't even have to be a fan, because Samsung is currently almost everywhere around us, because in addition to mobile devices, cameras and televisions, it also produces microwave ovens, dishwashers, washing machines, refrigerators, vacuum cleaners and much more. And what about the situation when your child asks you what Samsung actually means? We have an answer for that.

The word Samsung is unsurprisingly made up of two Korean words, namely "Sam" and "Sung", which translates to "three stars", or "three stars". But what does the Samsung logo have together with the three stars? In 1938, the very first retail store was established in Daegu, South Korea, with the brand name "Samsung Store", whose logo had exactly three stars in it, and it remained that way until the end of the 60s, when the logo was changed for the whole decade and left of it only a gray three-star and the inscription SAMSUNG written in Latin. Then, in the late 20s, the logo was redesigned to a similar one, but the font and color used changed, along with the arrangement and shape of the three stars. This logo lasted until March 70, when it was changed to the one we know today.

But the three-star is not the only meaning that the word Samsung can hide. The Chinese character for the word "Sam" means something like "strong, numerous, powerful," while the character for the word "Sung" means "eternal." So we get "mighty and eternal", which at first glance sounds like the propaganda of some totalitarian regime, but at second glance we may realize that it actually fits, because Samsung is one of the most powerful, strongest and largest technology companies in the world and he is only 24 years away from celebrating century old anniversary of his brand. And that the company will certainly have something to celebrate, did you know that during its existence, Samsung even managed to found its own professional baseball team?
