Prague, April 8, 2014 – Samsung Electronics, market leader in advanced memory technology and innovator in consumer electronics, launches new series advanced SD and microSD cards, which are ideal for digital and mobile devices. Products are available in categories PRO, EVO and Standard, so they allow a variety of uses and performance levels for both regular consumers and professionals.

The new memory cards are designed for many different consumer electronics devices. While SD cards are most commonly found in digital cameras, DSLR cameras, and camcorders, microSD cards are primarily used in mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, but also in some cameras and camcorders equipped with microSD card slots.

The expanded offer will satisfy the growing demand of users for high performance, capacity and level of reliability. They are available in a wide range capacities from 4 GB to 64 GB. For example, with a 64GB Samsung PRO memory card in a compact digital camera, users can record approximately 670 minutes of Full HD video (30 frames per second) without having to change the card. The PRO and EVO types also support performance First stage Ultra High Speed (UHS-I), so they offer a quick read: 90MB / s (FOR) a 48MB / s (EVO).

In order to also ensure the high reliability of the new memory cards, Samsung has developed them from a material resistant to water, extreme temperatures, X-rays and magnetism. Thanks to this, all models survive even the harshest conditions and can last for example up to 24 hours in sea water, withstand operating temperatures of -25 °C to 85 °C (non-operating temperatures -40 °C to 85 °C) and withstand a magnet with a strength of up to 15 gaussian. In addition, SD cards can withstand the weight of a 000-ton vehicle.

In addition to improved features, the new Samsung memory cards also have updated look, which features a different color design for each category: professional silver for PRO, romantic orange for EVO and emerald blue for Standard. Each is also newly prominently printed with white numbers that indicate its capacity.

“Samsung plans to take the lead in the development of high-capacity memory cards with increased performance, quality, expanded capacity options and sophisticated design. Our goal is next-generation memory cards that will have even higher speed and larger memory capacity. In this way, we will increase consumer satisfaction and consolidate our leading position in the memory device market." said Unsoo Kim, senior vice president of the brand product marketing team at Samsung Electronics.

Samsung has been leading the global market for NAND Flash memory devices since 2002. In addition, last year, just two years after entering the market, it also gained the largest share of the SSD disk market.

Sales of new memory cards started at the beginning of April. Prices for the microSD Standard series start at CZK 139 including VAT (4 GB). EVO cards can be purchased for as little as 199 CZK including VAT (8 GB), the 32 GB version will cost 549 CZK including VAT. The top PRO series offers, for example, a 16GB variant for CZK 599 including VAT.
