office-365-personalMicrosoft continues to make changes to Office, and a few weeks after the release of Office for iPad, the company introduced Office Online applications for Google Chrome. As you might have guessed, Microsoft has created separate applications for the Chrome browser that will allow users to create and edit documents even without having the Office suite installed on their computer. However, this is only the Online version, and for full functionality an Internet connection and a Microsoft Account are required, which you can create for free on Microsoft's website.

Microsoft's move itself can be considered a direct attack on the Google Docs office suite, which is part of the Google Drive cloud solution. However, the Docs service currently differs in one fundamental difference, as it will allow you to create files even without an Internet connection, and later automatically upload them to the cloud when the user is connected to the Internet. The programs themselves look practically the same as those on the Office Online website and are available for free in the Chrome Web Store.
