Samsung subsidiary SDI has introduced a 210 mAh curved battery that is intended for use in wearable devices such as smart watches or sports bracelets with fitness measurement. Samsung wants to focus this year on producing as many components as possible for wearable devices that are becoming undoubtedly a hit. The battery is enclosed in aluminum foil, which is very safe and there is no risk of explosion if the battery comes into direct contact with fire.
The Samsung battery is thus very safe for use in devices that are located in the immediate vicinity of the user. The battery itself is made using the so-called V-technology, which increases the energy density in the battery. A similar battery is also used in the Gear Fit bracelet, which lasts up to five days on a single charge. Samsung is also reportedly planning to introduce larger curved batteries that will be designed for smartphones.
