Samsung Display, a branch of Samsung, has decided to invest 6 trillion KRW (almost 115 billion CZK, 4 billion Euros ago) in the Asan factory for the production of flexible OLED displays. This happened because of the high demand for these displays and rapidly growing competition, especially in the form of LG Display. The factory should use the investment this year at the turn of November/November and December/December, the expected mass production of these displays should then start within 2 months of utilization, probably in January/January or February/February next year.

According to DisplaySearch, the market for flexible OLED displays will more than double within six years compared to the current one, and should be fifty percent larger in two years, so Samsung Display will be able to cash in relatively quickly. The curved 1.84″ SuperAMOLED display can already be used on the smart fitness bracelet Samsung Gear Fit, at the same time this display has become the first in the world of its kind. Undoubtedly, we will also see the new generation of flexible OLED displays on future devices from Samsung, while plans for the future also talk about a display as flexible as paper.
