The Samsung Gear 2 and Samsung Gear Fit are devices that are gorgeous, and one of the good things about them is that they sell for a pretty good price. What is less gratifying is that the price of possible service is so high that in case of serious damage it is better to buy a new part than to have the old one repaired. However, the high price is not due to the work done, but to the price of the individual components.
As iFixIt discovered, both products can be repaired fairly easily, as long as you don't mind the adhesive used. It is this that connects the display to the device, and there is a risk that it will be damaged if handled carelessly. So if the Gear 2 were to be damaged, the cost of repair would be roughly $240, or 80% of the selling price of the device. The service price for the Gear Fit bracelet should be around 170 dollars for the change, which represents up to 85% of their selling price. One of the hardest things to fix is the charging connector and heart rate sensor, which is hidden on the bottom of the device and requires disassembling the entire device. The fact that Samsung does not have enough spare parts today also contributes to the high price, as it does not even have time to produce the products themselves.
