Computer viruses are no longer just a threat to computers. With the advent of smart devices, viruses have made their way to phones and tablets, and may soon make their way to smart TVs. Today, Smart TVs are increasingly replacing traditional TVs, and it is precisely their software maturity that poses a serious threat to them. Eugene Kaspersky declared that we should slowly start preparing for the arrival of viruses on Smart TV.

The stumbling block in this case is the Internet connection. It is supported by every Smart TV and provides access to many services and applications, including an Internet browser. Well, thanks to the fact that developers can easily create threats for Android and from time to time they create threats to iOS, we are only a step away from the emergence of the first "television" viruses. The only difference is that the TV has a larger display and a remote control. But Kaspersky already claims that it has developed a prototype of antivirus software for Smart TV and plans to release its final version at the moment when the first threats appear. Kaspersky's R&D center recorded 315 activities last year and records millions of attacks worldwide every year Windows, thousands of attacks on Android and a few attacks on iOS.

But what will viruses look like for Smart TV? Don't expect them to block your access to apps. TV viruses will be more like adware that will interrupt your viewing content with unwanted advertising and thus you will not be able to watch the content without problems. But it doesn't have to be everything. It is possible that viruses will try to obtain login data from services that the user uses on his Smart TV.
