IDC_Logo-squareHow would you imagine the smartphone market in 2018? The company IDC came up with the research, which calculated some really interesting numbers from the collected data. IDC expects 1,2 billion phones to be sold this year. This is an increase of 21% compared to last year. At that time, approximately 1 billion mobile phones were sold. Based on these facts, the company assumes that in 2018 the sales of mobile phones will be at the number of 1,8 billion smartphones.

This number suggests that the increase in phone sales will slow down. The company also assumes that the average price will also go down. They are talking about a number of $267, which is a decent drop from today's average of $314. The next thing IDC shows us is share. Android according to calculations, it should drop by less than 3%, from 80,2% to 77,6%. Less, but still, it will fall iOS, which will go from a 14,8% share to a lower 13,7%. These declines are conditioned by the fact that there is constantly greater and greater demand for the operating system Windows Phone.

BlackBerry is also worth mentioning. A deep decline is expected. More precise data are in the table below. However, it is clear that these calculations should be taken with a grain of salt, because no one can see into the future yet. However, these data should not be dismissed, they are, after all, supported by real facts. Personally, I assume that the decline or growth will remain, only the numbers will change and not much. But that is assumed, the future can never be predicted precisely. We thank the IDC company for such a vision for the future and also for a clear table.
