After already established AMOLED displays and newly flexible screens that are just waiting to be used, Samsung together with LG decided to focus on improved Quantum Dot (QD) LCD displays. According to the reports of the South Korean portal ET News, Samsung plans to introduce large-scale production of these displays in the near future and later use them on its devices. But what is so special about them compared to the original LCD? Quantum Dot technology helps LCD displays to achieve a much higher color saturation, thus at least partially equaling the mentioned AMOLED displays from Samsung, which, compared to classic LCD screens, have better color reproduction and contrast.

It is not yet certain when exactly we will see QD displays on new devices, but according to the portal ET News, we could expect the first smartphones and tablets with Quantum Dot already at the beginning of 2015, or in the first half of it, when Samsung should also come out Galaxy S6. However, according to assumptions, QD LCD will definitely not appear on that one, since it has been around since the very beginning of the series Galaxy With smartphones from this series, AMOLED displays are used, and Samsung has no reason to change this "tradition".
