About Samsung working on a watch with Androidom, it has been speculated for a long time. In the end, it turned out to be true, and yesterday Google revealed a watch called the Samsung Gear Live. The latest addition to the watch series differs from other models in that it has an operating system Android Wear, which is significantly simpler than the Tizen OS found in us reviewed Samsung Gear 2. The operating system from Google was designed in such a way that it does not support the camera, at least not at the moment.
In practice, the design of the watch is cleaner compared to the Gear 2, which is due to the aforementioned software limitations. They also signed up for another design change. The watch does not contain a Home button, which can be justified by the fact that the display of the watch should always be on, just like in the case of other watches with the system Android Wear. But is this an advantage? Samsung Gear Live contains exactly the same battery that we could find in the Gear 2 watch, i.e. a battery with a capacity of 300 mAh, which in normal use ensures 3 days of use on one charge. Here, however, it is necessary to take into account the fact that the display of the watch only turned on when looking at it, or after pressing the home button. However, how long the Samsung Gear Live will last on a single charge in practice will be known only after some time.
If we ignore the missing camera and home button, then the hardware of the Samsung Gear Live is identical to the hardware of the Samsung Gear 2. They therefore have a processor with a frequency of 1.2 GHz and 512 MB of RAM. The watch also has 4 GB of storage, which is used both for the operating system and for working with applications that will work on the watch. Within the supplied software we find the system Android Wear and Google Now, Google Voice, Google Maps & Navigation, Gmail and Hangouts. There are also fitness functions, and since Google introduced the Google Fit software kit yesterday, it wants to use it on the watch as well. It is therefore no surprise that the Samsung Gear Live watch also has a heart rate sensor, which we encountered in Galaxy S5 and smart watches. The watch strap will be available in two versions, black and wine red.
