Samsung disputed last week's claim, saying it remains the largest phone maker in India. The news was confirmed by BD Park, president and CEO of Samsung South West Asia Operations, who added that business interests must have been behind last week's claim. According to him, in the second quarter of 2014, Samsung continued to be the largest phone manufacturer in India, with its share reaching almost 50%.

Last week, there was a claim that Samsung would lose its lead in India to Micromax, which was expected to become the largest manufacturer in the second quarter of 2014 by market share. The same is true of smartphones, where, according to Park, Samsung continues to be the largest manufacturer, and during the mentioned period it managed to double its share compared to its nearest competitor. However, he admitted that growth in the Indian market is slower than a few years ago.
