As we reported earlier, Samsung patented the watch design with a circular design, which at the time we attributed to the Samsung Gear 3 model, which will be introduced this year. However, according to new information, I will offer a different design, which will not be circular at all. Patents are not just patents, however, and Samsung is said to be working on a Gear watch model with a circular display that will compete with the Motorola Moto 360 watch and other watches from LG.
The new watch has been in preparation for some time, but we do not know whether it will appear on the market this year or next year. What is certain now, however, is that Samsung will start alongside Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will also sell a Gear Solo watch with its own slot for a SIM card, so the watch will be able to make calls even without the user having to connect it to the phone. The Gear Solo watch will run on Tizen OS, while the circular watch is not yet sure whether it will offer Tizen or Android Wear. However, it should be emphasized that Android Wear is now compatible with circular displays.
