Samsung Gear 2Prague, August 25, 2014 – Posted by Samsung 200 successful applications, which advanced from the 1st round of the competition for mobile application developers Samsung Gear App Challenge 2014. The competition was announced in May this year to support the efforts of developers around the world to create apps optimized for Samsung wearables. In total, the competition was entered 980 applications, which included applications LBS (Location Based Service) working with the user's current position, or time planning applications, RSS readers, game application and many others. Developers from 69 countries including Czech Republic and Slovakia.

"We are very pleased to see such interest from developers. Their enthusiasm for the Gear wearables segment is more than evident and it also supports our efforts to develop devices that expand users' options and provide extraordinary experiences," said Won-Pyo Hong, president and director of Media Solution Center. "The success of the competition proves the growing potential of the wearables market, so we will continue to support the efforts of developers to create new applications."

In the first round, the main criteria were understanding the features of the Gear watch, the benefit of the application for its users and its uniqueness. 200 successful participants gained 2 000 USD and advanced to the next round. Second round narrows down the selection to 40 finalists, who can look forward to a share of the financial sum USD 850.

The overall winner gets 100 000 USD and the 10 best applications will also be included in a public competition for The popularity prize. Its winner then gets BMW i3.

Ten finalists will be announced during the conference Samsung Developer Conference, which takes place at the Moscone West Center in San Francisco from November 11 to 13, 2014. The finalists will be invited to the conference and will have the opportunity to present their applications.
