From time to time, various things break on smartphones or tablets, but for many people, the biggest shock can be when their power button breaks, i.e. the button that usually unlocks the display and turns on the phone. And what if the device is already under warranty and we don't want to go to the nearest service center for some reason? It is enough to remain completely calm, because many methods have already been devised to turn on the display without the power button, including the most primitive ones, which, however, would not have occurred to an ordinary user at all.
The most basic way to turn on the display without using the power button is to use the home button. However, this is only possible on selected smartphones (namely, e.g. devices from the series Galaxy S, Galaxy Note and others) that have a home button as a hardware button that needs to be really "pressed" and not just run over with your finger. If the device does not have a HOME button, it is also possible to turn on the screen by putting the smartphone/tablet in the charger and it turns on, or by asking someone to call you.
However, using these solutions all the time can often be quite impractical, which is why there are developers who also think of users with a non-functioning power button. In the Google Play store, for example, you can download the "Power Button to Volume Button" application, thanks to which, when the display is turned off, the volume button will work in the same way as a non-functioning power button. The Gravity Unlock application also works in a similar way, it can turn on the display at the moment when the user takes the device in hand, and Shake Screen On Off can do the same magic, but with this one, the device must be shaken. Unfortunately, all the methods mentioned only work when the phone or tablet is turned on. If it is not or has simply turned off in some mysterious way, we recommend that you immediately visit the nearest service or complaint center, because you have most likely lost the only way to turn on your mobile phone. Hello, I have a Samsung phone Galaxy S4 mini with which the button for turning the phone on and off broke (it got stuck and can't be pressed). My phone died and now I can't turn it on. Is there any way to turn on the phone without the function button? Thank you for answer.

Šárko, try plugging it into the PC via USB and when it is fully charged, hold both volume buttons and while you hold them they must still be connected to USB. I have the same problem and it works on my HUAWEI Y5 2018. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.. It doesn't go to the charger, only to the PC..
