samsung-galaxy-glass-patent-7Did you think that when Samsung released the virtual reality Gear VR, it was introducing its own smart glasses? It turns out not, and Samsung is still working on its own smart glasses that will compete with the Google Glass project, which is not exactly the cheapest thing today. However, Samsung could introduce glasses that would offer similar functionality at a lower price and could serve as a complement to the upcoming Samsung phone Galaxy S6.

The company is working on glasses with the name Samsung Gear Blink, for which it also registered a trademark in South Korea. Today we only know so much about glasses, what they might look like and what writing with their help might look like. We got the answer to that thanks to a patent that Samsung received earlier this year. However, the patent appeared quite soon, even a year before the expected start of sales. As we now learn, the Samsung Gear Blink glasses should go on sale in March/March 2014, i.e. at the same time when Samsung could start selling Galaxy S6. From this we can conclude that the glasses will be presented together with Galaxy S6 at MWC 2015, or at a separate event. Finally, the glasses should have the Tizen operating system.
