SES AstraLeading satellite operator SES announced today that it has started cooperation with SmarDTV and Samsung Electronics. Together, the companies began testing the first encoded content in Ultra HD resolution distributed with the help of the SES Astra satellite system. The presentation to the public is to take place at the IBC 2014 fair in Amsterdam, which takes place from today until September 16.9.2014, XNUMX. Samsung will be the first seller of UHD TVs with the support of encoded content, and the first demonstrated model will include the SmarDTV CI Plus access module.

The very introduction of satellite UHD content is considered an important milestone in the history of UHD broadcasting. It is the first time that satellite operators can provide content with a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels, which is encoded in HEVC. The broadcast content is then decrypted using the SmarDTV module and the decoded content is then projected onto a TV – in this case a new UHD TV from Samsung. This option also opens the door to the world of UHD content for pay TV providers. The satellite signal is then captured from the Astra 1L satellite and broadcast based on the DVB UHD Phase 1 specification:

  • Astra 1L: 19,2°E, frequency 11,406 GHz; pol. V, SR 22000, FEC 2/3, DVB-S2/8PSK, CA Nagra MA

var sklikData = { elm: "sklikReklama_47925", zoneId: 47925, w: 600, h: 190 };

Samsung TV HU8290

var sklikData = { elm: "sklikReklama_47926", zoneId: 47926, w: 600, h: 190 };
