Samsung Gear VR is the result of several months of collaboration between Samsung and Oculus Rift. The latter, which today belongs to Facebook, announced the Oculus Platform application store, where developers will be able to upload their applications for Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR and thus be able to distribute them to users of the glasses. The store itself also serves as a platform where official applications such as Oculus 360 Photos and Videos and Oculus Cinema will be located.
Both apps are among the first official apps announced for virtual reality from Samsung. The device will also get into the hands of developers in the coming months with the fact that it will be a special Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition developer kit. A mobile SDK will be released for it by the end of October/October, which will be available through the Oculus Developer Center portal.
