Samsung S GearA total of 5 million smart bracelets have been sold worldwide, according to Canalys statistics, as of the third quarter of 2014. And since Samsung is somewhat ahead of most of the competition with its third-generation Gear S smartwatch and several other products, there is no it is no wonder that exactly 52% of all sales of smart watches in the period between the beginning of July/July and the end of September/September belong to the South Korean giant. In other words, Samsung sold over 3 million smart watches in 2.5 months!

Compared to Samsung, its rivals fared rather ridiculously. The largest of them, i.e. Motorola, can "boast" only a 15% share in sales, but the already mentioned fact must be taken into account - Samsung is already selling the third generation of its smart watches and has Galaxy Gear, Gear 2 and the latest Gear S plus the smart fitness bracelet Samsung Gear Fit, Galaxy Band and a special version of its watch in the form of Gear 2 Neo and Gear Live, the latter device unlike the rest, like the Motorola 360, has an operating system Android Wear, in other watches we find pre-installed Tizen OS.

It was the introduction and subsequent release of the Gear S and Gear Live that was supposed to be one of the main reasons why the popularity of smart bracelets increased significantly in the third quarter of 2014 compared to the previous quarter, with overall sales even rising by as much as 37%. On the other hand, it should be noted that Apple their Apple Watch hasn't released it yet and a lot of potential buyers are still waiting for them, so overall sales should be even higher over time, but in any case, the Californian company will have a lot to catch up on if it wants to somehow threaten Samsung's dominant position in this direction.
