Gear SLate, but still. This sentence is probably followed by Samsung, at least as far as the Wi-Fi only variant of the Gear S watch is concerned. That's what we're talking about were the first to report at the end of this summer, but originally this "special" version of the third generation of smart watches from Samsung was supposed to be presented at the IFA 2014 conference alongside the classic Gear S, but that didn't happen. Almost a quarter of a year after the aforementioned conference, however, news comes from Japan that this very variant has reached the market there!

What does the Wi-Fi only version of the Gear S have or not? Unsurprisingly, it doesn't have a SIM card slot in the first place, so you can't use a 3G connection, call or text in the watch, which is somewhat paradoxical considering that Samsung presents the presence of a SIM slot in the Gear S as its main advantage. In addition, according to information from the Japanese division of Samsung, it does not offer watches or GPS. As for the other hardware specifications, the same components as in the original version are hidden in the Wi-Fi only Gear S, i.e. a 2″ curved Super AMOLED display, a 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory and a 300mAh battery. Whether this new product will be available in Europe and at what price is not yet clear, in Japan it is now sold for around 330 dollars, equivalent to almost 7 CZK (000 Euros).
