Samsung-Unveils-Exynos-5250-Dual-Core-Application-ProcessorSamsung, the company that started making its own mobile processors, will also start making its own graphics chips, and new information suggests that it will introduce its first graphics chips in mid-2015 at the latest. Graphics chips from Samsung's workshop should reach its smartphones, which will premiere in next year's flagship Galaxy Note 5. This would be an advantage for the company, as it would be able to create specific chips for individual devices and would not have to buy them from the current supplier of graphics chips for Exynos processors.

That supplier is ARM, which also makes Cortex cores for Exynos processors. Other suppliers then include Qualcomm, which supplies Adreno chips to devices that include Snapdragon processors and also uses graphics chips from Imagination Technologies, PowerVR, which are also used in phones iPhone. In the end, the question remains whether Samsung's graphics chips will not violate the patents of nVidia, which is currently accusing Samsung precisely because of the technologies related to the graphics chips in phones, and is thus threatened with a sales ban Galaxy Note 4 and other news in the USA.
