android lollipop smsAndroid 5.0 Lollipop is still not found on a large number of devices, but in any case, most newer smartphones will almost certainly get it, and given that the so-called lollipop came with many changes compared to 4.4 KitKat, some may get a little lost in its control. And one of the conveniences that anyone who is not exactly a fan of the original should definitely know how to access Android the "Messages" app, is of course setting another default app to access SMS.

And it doesn't matter if you've decided to use Hangouts from Google or another app with the same focus, there are plenty of them to be found on Google Play. In most cases, after downloading a new SMS application, the system itself will ask you which of the installed applications you want to use as default, but if you have already decided on another application or the selection menu did not appear automatically, you will need to look in the Settings application.

The procedure for setting the default SMS application is really simple, just follow these 3 points:

  • In the settings, open "Wireless connections and network settings" (Wireless & network)
  • Continue to "More"
  • Click on "Default SMS app" and choose

And it is done. For all SMS applications, we can name, for example, frequently awarded ones GO SMS Pro whether Textra SMS, but as already mentioned, the choice is really wide and it is only up to you which application you prefer. What's more, in some cases the instructions described above will not be necessary at all, in some SMS applications you will find the option "Set as default" directly in their own settings, which will save you a long way through the system settings.
