Galaxy S6 Edge_Combination2_Black SapphireRight after the enticing intro, the first key information about the news that Samsung presented in the evening appeared. The company introduced both models, Galaxy S6 and etc Galaxy S6 edge, which differs from the classic model by the presence of a three-sided touch screen. Surprisingly, unlike the Note, this time Samsung devoted the vast majority of the conference to the Edge model. By the way, as Samsung himself said, the model Galaxy Unlike some competitors, the S6 edge (or even the S6!) does not bend, as it is made of solid materials, which include Gorilla Glass 4 on both sides.

Personally, I'm looking forward to this change, but at the same time, I'm a little worried about how the use of premium material will reflect on falls. Not that I'm a pessimist, but mobile phone crashes are practically the order of the day, so many are worried about what will come of it. However, Samsung claims that the glass is 50% more durable than Gorilla Glass 3 and as we could see in the photos, its edges are curved and embedded in the aluminum structure on the side. So, there is a chance that the phone will last, but my personal opinion is that I would rather buy a case for it. In the case of the Edge model, some expressed concern about how the front glass would end up if the phone were to fall on its side or front. I would probably be more careful here, but I could be wrong and Gorilla Glass 4 can be highly resistant after all. As an interesting fact, Samsung also mentioned that the front glass was manufactured at 800°C, which ensured the combination of the necessary curvature and hardness of the glass.

The novelty retained the same large display as Galaxy S5, which I take as a good thing, since I only managed it so-so, so further enlargement would make it difficult for me to control it. However, the resolution has increased and we even have a display with the highest pixel density on the market. The resolution is 2560 x 1440 at 577 ppi. However, this is not a reason to celebrate. The main reason for the higher (it can be said that, according to paper, unnecessary) resolution lies in the quality of the colors, since the pixels here are inflated enough that the display can create a feeling of perfect color accuracy. You won't notice it at first glance, but when you compare the photo of the GS6 and GS5, you will really notice the difference in colors.

The S6 Edge also kept the same diagonal, as the sides of the display are curved differently than in the Note. In my opinion, the advantage is that the display is curved on both sides. Now you don't have to be right-handed or turn your phone 180° to use the side panels. Instead, it is quite likely that you will set which side you want to access your most favorite contacts (max. 5). But what I found a little unreasonable is that, unlike the Note Edge, the main display itself is curved with the S6, so we can say goodbye to the fact that someone would ever bother to create specific functions, and at the same time it can mean that developers stop developing special Note Edge applications.

The special model of the new flagship also has the ability to send an automatic message and hang up the call if you have it facing down. Just place your finger on the heart rate sensor. I would like to dwell on that. I don't know if Samsung has improved the sensor compared to the previous model, but I assume it works on the first try, just like the Note 4. Galaxy With the S5, it happened to me that the sensor simply did not register my finger, or warned me that I should place my finger differently. Also, I cannot fail to point out the change that the sensor together with the flash has moved to the right of the camera. If you have smaller fingers, it can be difficult to use S Health and its heart rate function. On the other hand, it can be a negligible difference, since the height here has changed by about half a centimeter.

The fact that Samsung kept the 16-megapixel camera resolution and added a few new features is a nice change. Improved Aperture is now f/1.9, which means better quality photos again. But the question remains how the photos will look after zooming in, since it is somewhat customary that you can see various inaccuracies in the highest resolution photos after zooming in. But we'll see that in the review. But what surprised me more than the front camera. Samsung used the same aperture as on the rear camera and at the same time enriched it with a 5-megapixel resolution, which will especially please those ladies who regularly take selfies. Now even in the dark, because Samsung has improved the quality in low light. The mobile takes several photos with different settings and then combines them into one high-quality image. Experience with Galaxy However, they tell me about the zoom that when trying to absorb as much light as possible, the phone can cut at times. But this can easily be solved with more powerful HW, and it is actually found in the S6.

The key changes under the hood are that Samsung has really used the latest technology. Therefore, we see the first processor made with 14-nm FinFET technology and LPDDR4 RAM. The technology used in the production of the new processor is the one with which the pre processors will be produced Apple and also for Qualcomm. Paradoxically, Qualcomm became a Samsung customer almost at the same moment that Samsung stopped using Qualcomm chips. A big advantage is also 64-bit support, which means that we have one of the fastest mobile phones on the market today, and according to the first benchmarks, it even seems that we have the fastest one. To this you have to add the operating memory, which is 80% faster compared to LPDDR3. An equally key change is that Samsung has used UFS 2.0 storage. But in order not to talk in shorthand, I will explain it. The new storage is as fast as SSDs in computers, but at the same time it is as economical as storage in mobile phones. Of course, it was made by Samsung, so it seems that the new Samsung mobile really has everything from Samsung.

Personally, I'm a bit worried about the battery life. Although Samsung says that the battery lasts for 12 hours of use on WiFi and 11 hours on LTE, but considering that the mobile has an ultra-thin body (6,8mm) and high performance, there are concerns whether the mobile will actually reach the mentioned time. In addition, people may have encountered the fact that the battery wears out a little faster than usual, and now it is not enough to go to the store and buy a new one. You already have to go to the service center and ask for its replacement, which is more expensive and time-consuming. I didn't understand the fact that Samsung turned 180° at first, but I take it as a tribute to the design. Samsung also didn't mention the Ultra Power Saving Mode at all, so it's questionable if it's in the phone. Especially when Samsung cleaned up TouchWiz by about 3/4 of the stuff.
