Samsung-LogoOne of the key innovations that Samsung presented at yesterday's event, but also announced a few days earlier, is a new ultra-fast storage for mobile phones. Samsung presented the new UFS 2.0 technology, which stands for Universal Flash Storage, and it is the fastest mobile storage today, which its competitors can only envy. What makes this storage so special? We'll look at that right now.

As Samsung has already stated, the storage is as fast as computer SSDs, but at the same time it is up to 50% more economical than current mobile storage. In terms of speed, the new UFS 2.0 storage can handle up to 19 I/O operations per second for random reading, which is 000 times faster than the usual eMMC 2,7 technology found in the vast majority of high-end smartphones today. However, the company does not want to keep the ultra-fast technology only for itself and says that it will be willing to sell it to other manufacturers, which may include Apple. It will have several capacities to choose from, today 32, 64 and 128 GB versions of UFS storage are produced.

At the same time, however, we will only find these storages in mobiles that will not include a microSD slot, since popular memory cards are not as fast as local storage and Samsung has said that it is hungry for speed, so it is good to get rid of any obstacles. It may also mean the gradual end of the legendary memory cards, which started with 64 MB capacity and gradually developed up to 128 GB. Especially when the new technology will be cheaper and more accessible even for the cheapest devices. They could improve their performance in the future.
