smartthings_conaWhen Samsung bought SmartThings for about $200 million last year, it announced that it had big plans for its smart home. More specifically, at IFA 2014, the company announced an "update" to Smart Home, which now also supports operation with third-party devices, such as digital door locks or IP cameras, but although these newer smart sensors were supposed to be released this April/April, it seems that Samsung is pushing their release.

Na the official SmartThings blog the news appeared that the new Hub and SmartSense Multi, Presence and Motion are currently in the testing phase and that we can expect them on the market sometime during the third quarter of this year. The new Hub then offers higher performance thanks to the use of AppEngine technology, which does not run applications from the cloud, but locally. In addition, it has a backup power supply, so some functions can work even in the event of a power outage. For more information about this news and its release, we recommend the above link to the official SmartThings blog.
