SamsungJust a quarter of a year ago, Samsung's results and sales numbers did not look great, the company even replaced several of its high-ranking managers due to a significant drop, but now here we are in the first quarter of 2015, and according to data provided by Strategy Analytics, Samsung seems to be in trouble behind. In fact, it managed to significantly overtake the smartphone market Apple and once again became the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world.

Specifically, Samsung owns a full 24.1% of the entire smartphone market, compared to Apple ended up with just 17.7%. In specific numbers, Samsung shipped over 83 million units of smartphones to the world, thus not only surpassing its Apple competitor by 20 million, but also itself compared to the last quarter, when there were about 10 million fewer. On the other hand, compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the South Korean manufacturer lost 6 million.

It is understandable that a significant part of Samsung's success is due to its newly released Galaxy S6 and its premium version Galaxy S6 edge, but it should be taken into account that these are high-end and therefore expensive devices. If Samsung were to focus more on the low-end and mid-range smartphone segment, which could attract more potential customers, with a bit of luck, it could surpass Apple on an even larger scale than it is now. However, this depends only on the engineers of the South Korean company and on their decisions.
