marshmallowSamsung is often criticized for how long it takes to bring updates not only to its cheaper devices, but also to its flagships. However, Samsung is trying to improve there and has already started preparing an update Android 6.0 Marshmallow for a few phones that are on sale and still eligible for updates. However, with the huge number of revisions that Samsung tailor-made for individual markets and operators, it has not yet started developing updates for all versions of individual devices. However, it has already started developing the most important ones, and we now have an overview of which devices will receive the update in the coming months.

Currently, the Marshmallow update is in the works for nine phones, including the US version Galaxy Note Edge and unavailable in our country Galaxy Note 5. We have therefore added to the list only those versions and devices that are sold on the European market and thus also in the Czech Republic and Slovakia:

  • Samsung Galaxy S5: SM-G900F, SM-G900H, SM-G900FD (Duos)
  • Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A: SM-G901
  • Samsung Galaxy S5 neo: SM-G903F
  • Samsung Galaxy S6: SM-G920F, SM-G920FD (Duos)
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 edge: SM-G925F
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+: SM-G928F
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 4: SM-N910F

The update itself should bring several new features that are closely related to functionality Androidat Marshmallow. The latest system brings several new animations, including a new app opening animation. The phone also has a more intelligent assistant; it learns what you tend to do with your phone and, accordingly, will recommend the apps you tend to use most during certain times of the day. So, basically, it is a similar function that the Proactive Assistant has on the competitor iOS 9. And privacy protection in individual applications has also been tightened. From now on, all apps will ask for permissions only after they are installed and first launched. First of all, however, applications will ask if you want to allow them access to data when needed. For example, Messenger only asks for permission to use the camera when you tap it. The same applies to voice messages or sending photos that you already have in the device's memory.

Well, the function sounds very interesting Now On Tap. The phone knows what's on the screen, and if there's a link to a website, an address, or the name of a restaurant, for example, holding down the Home Button will bring up a menu of apps that can work with that information — like Chrome, Maps, or OpenTable. Finally, there is a function Voice Interactions, which allows you to control applications and their functions by voice. And there was also an improvement in battery life. There is a new name Doze Mode, thanks to which the mobile knows whether you are using it or not, and when you do not use it at all for a long time, performance will automatically decrease and some unnecessary processors will be turned off.
