Samsung occupies an important position in the processor market, and it is not surprising that the company wants to expand its portfolio with another type of processor. So far, the company has focused only on the production of chips for its flagships and other high-end devices, mostly from Chinese manufacturers. However, the South Korean manufacturer wants to improve its financial situation in such a way that, in addition to producing high-end processors, it will also produce processors for the middle class.
The processor for mid-range smartphones should bear the designation Exynos 7880, while we could already see it in the upcoming phone refresh Galaxy A3X, A5X and A7X. Not much is known about the new processor yet, but it is possible that it will have fewer than the 8 cores that are typical for Exynos processors. The company further plans to develop an updated version of the processor it used in the family Galaxy S6 and Note 5. This chip is named Exynos 7422 and differs only minimally from its predecessor (7420). However, we could see him in some refresh, for example Galaxy S6 no. Finally, Samsung wants to develop its flagship Mongoose chip, known as Exynos 8890 or Exynos M1. This contains cores designed by Samsung itself.
