AMDOnly shortly after news broke that Samsung could face another drop in revenue due to declining interest in semiconductors, new news has emerged that may affect how Samsung fares in the coming years. If the statement of the Electronic Times portal is true, then the South Korean giant in cooperation with its partner GlobalFoundries should start producing processors for AMD next year.

According to sources familiar with the situation, AMD is primarily interested in using the 14nm manufacturing process that Samsung already uses in its mobile processors, including the Exynos 7420 chip that powers its current flagships as well as the Meizu Pro 5 phones. In addition, Samsung remains a processor manufacturer for Apple, where it manufactures a significant portion of the A9 processors hiding in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. How about chip manufacturing Apple A9X, which are part of the iPad Pro, are not known. Samsung also makes processors for Nvidia, which has previously sued the South Koreans over alleged patent infringement.
