Samsung is an innovator on all fronts and especially in the world of semiconductors. In addition to already being behind the most powerful mobile processor on the market, the fastest memories and the fastest SSD drives in the world, the company can now claim another great success to its credit. The company introduced the Bio-Processor, a special chip intended for smart watches and other fitness devices.
What makes this chip special? It contains a very large number of sensors, thanks to which devices such as Apple Watch 2 or Gear S3 were able to offer much more health-oriented functions than today's generations can. Today's models can only measure heart rate and steps, but thanks to the bioprocessor they could also analyze bioelectrical impedance, they could measure the functionality of organs in detail, they could contain an electrocardiogram showing the electrical activity of their heart and, last but not least, they could show skin temperature. In addition, functions such as a pedometer or heart rate measurement could be even more accurate than before. Samsung says the bioprocessor has already started production and the first devices with it will be announced as early as the first quarter of 2016, which is when it should Apple to present the second generation of their watches and as we know, so Apple is among Samsung's important customers.
