2016 is not something that the Korean company will just take for granted. In the middle of the year, a problem appeared with the accumulators of the premium Galaxy Note 7, which cost the company several billion dollars. But it almost seemed that the problem was solved and Samsung began to devote itself fully to its new flagships for 2017, i.e. Galaxy S8. But apparently we were mistaken. A few days ago, Samsung recalled 2,8 million units of its washing machines. 730 owners of these models experienced explosions that led to nine injuries. The Consumer Product Safety Commission reported on Good Morning America.

“We're talking about a….damn big and serious hazard, especially in the upper part of the washing machines where there is some blowing of air. Said Elliot Kaye, Chairman of the CPSC.”

According to him, there is a broken structure in the upper part of the defective units, which was not properly secured during the security check. This causes the upper part of the washing machines to be torn off, injuring nine people. Unfortunately for Samsung, the recall covers 34 models that were sold between March 2011 and November 2016. Melissa Thaxton, who owns one of these washing machines, was lucky to avoid serious injury when the washing machine exploded in her presence.

"Without any warning, the washing machine exploded out of nowhere….It was the loudest sound I've ever heard…like a bomb went off near my head."

Samsung's official statement reads,

"Samsung is trying very quickly and efficiently to find the cause of the explosion, which caused serious injuries to nine victims. Our priority is to eliminate all danger as much as possible, so that explosions and other injuries do not occur. We apologize for the inconvenience to all our customers..”

At the moment, Samsung is offering home washing machine repairs for free. This includes, among other things, strengthening the defective lid, along with extending the warranty by one year. Some customers get a special discount for the purchase of additional goods, and it does not matter whether it is a Samsung product or a competitor's product. And finally we got to the most important part. Affected owners are entitled to a refund.

Several months ago, the CPSC warned Samsung customers that their work units could be life-threatening.
