Samsung, the leader among TV manufacturers, has announced the results of testing of its Smart and UHD TVs, which took place in terms of hardware and software readiness to receive the new generation DVB-T2 signal with the H. 265 HEVC codec. The tests were carried out in accordance with the valid D-Book, an overview of the basic technical parameters that TV receivers and DVB-T2 tuners intended for the Czech market should meet.
Thus, the source coding of image and sound, language localization, EPG, teletext, radio frequencies and bandwidth, DVB-T2 modulation formats and other parameters were verified. All Samsung TVs of the 2016 model series with a diagonal of 32 to 78 inches and the vast majority of Smart and UHD models from 2015 (a total of 127 TV models) are thus fully compatible with the newly emerging DVB-T2 television broadcasting technology. The readiness of the TVs was also confirmed by independent tests by the Czech Radiocommunications (ČRA) company, which awarded these TV models equipped with a DVB-T2 tuner with HEVC.265 support a certificate confirming compatibility with future broadcast standards.

The transition to the new digital broadcasting standard is planned for 2020 to 2021, with new transition networks starting to broadcast as early as 2017. It is for customers informace very important about the compatibility of the new TV with emerging standards. Based on the successful certification of the ČRA, compatible devices will receive the appropriate marking and logo, which will thus be the main guide for the right choice.
DVB-T2 (Digital Video Broadcasting – Terrestrial) is a new standard for digital terrestrial TV broadcasting, which brings viewers their favorite programs in high definition and a whole range of other accompanying services. The result is a sharper image and perfectly saturated colors. Other improvements are better TV signal transmission security and higher data flow enabling economical HDTV transmission.
