Signing up for the WhatsApp beta means you have access to new features way before everyone else. While the official version of WhatsApp only recently got video calling, the new beta version is just adding another feature in the form of video streaming. Before you cheer, we'll knock you back on your ass. This is not the same live transmission as offered by Facebook or Instagram, for example, but it is the possibility to stream videos immediately without having to download it.

The way the new feature works is twofold. If you have automatic media downloads enabled, you will receive a message and then the video will start downloading. But even before the video is downloaded, you can play the video thanks to the big button in the middle of the screen. However, if you have automatic downloads turned off, you'll see something a little different.

You'll still have the option to start the video with the big button, but you won't be able to download it. The same applies to GIF images.
