"These platforms do not meet our requirements that would allow us to expand our features in the future..." WhatsApp posted on its official blog.
“If you are using one of these phones, we recommend that you upgrade to at least Android 2.3 and above, Windows Phone 8 and above, or iOS 7 and above before the end of 2016, if you want to continue using WhatsApp services.”
iOS 6 together with iPhonem 3GS has been supported for a very long time, which also applies Androidin 2.1 and 2.2.
