Back in 2014, the FTC raided AT & T for placing unauthorized third-party payments on customers' phone bills. The carrier is believed to be charging its customers $9,99 a month to ring and subscribe to text messages that contain love tips, horoscopes and fun facts without their consent. AT&T received 32 percent of the money, while the rest went into the pockets of Tatto and Acquinity, two other participating companies.

AT & T already dealt with a similar case two years ago and will now start paying more than $88 million in damages. Yes, it's more money than the company itself ever made, at least from this scam. The operator must issue this money over the next 75 days to more than 300 current or former customers. According to the FTC, each victim receives an average of $000.
