TCL Communication sounds quite unknown, but in fact we have seen their designed phones for a long time - DTEK50 and DTEK60 were designed and created by this Chinese company.

In essence, the announcement of this long-term licensing agreement between the two companies is just an extension of their already existing partnership. Everything follows on from the joint work on the BlackBerry phones we came across in the past – the DTEK50 and DTEK60. However, from now on BlackBerry will - as previously announced - focus only on the development of its software, while TCL Communication will take care of the production.

“BlackBerry will continue to review and develop software for BlackBerry-branded devices. The company is thus responsible not only for security, but also for the reliability of the software. TCL Communication, with whom we have been cooperating for several months, will take care of the production and design of the device..."

So it looks like TCL will continue to sell and manufacture exclusive hardware for the Canadian company. The Chinese partner has a very long history and great experience as a manufacturer. This is also proven by the latest statistics, which place TCL in the TOP 10 global companies. BlackBerry's chief operating officer, Ralph Pini, explains that this long-term agreement can only benefit the Canadian company, as it does not have to spend its money on hardware development. Thanks to this, it can focus on where it is the absolute number one - software and security.
