Having your phone stolen is a much worse feeling than simply losing it. If you lose it, you still have a chance to get it back with built-in services to help you track it down. But if a professional thief steals it, it's more than likely you'll never see it again.

Anthony van der Meer was targeted by one of the thieves who stole his iPhone. The thief was really smart in this case because it was impossible to find and restore the phone even through Find My iPhone. At this moment, the student decided to have the second phone stolen, which was enriched with special spyware. Anthony could then spy on his thief and see everything, maybe even what he didn't want to.

“After my phone was stolen, I realized very quickly how much of my personal information and data the thief could get instantly. So I kept my cool and had another phone stolen. But this time my phone was pre-programmed with smart spyware, so I could have a clear view of the thief.”

However, the phone used was not iPhone. This spyware application on iOS cannot be installed at all, so it was necessary to use a mobile phone with Androidem. For the purposes of this experiment, the filmmaker used an HTC One, which he could then remotely control. He could spy on the attacker, so he could see everything the thief was doing. That is, only if the device was connected to the Internet.

To make sure the phone wouldn't be updated, Anthony had to block access to updates. It could happen that the update has a new protection that would stop the application. Full video under the title "Find My iphone” is almost 22 minutes long and definitely worth watching. It gives you a glimpse into the life of a thief. In addition, it also shows what can be done with a smartphone if it is enriched with special spyware.
