We have been receiving for several months informace that both leading manufacturers, i.e. Samsung and LG, should introduce their brand new flexible displays in the near future. Unfortunately, none of them have concrete plans for when these displays could see the light of day. But that's a fairly clear thing, the market has been rather erratic lately. However, both companies could be overtaken by Japan Display Inc.

This company announced a few hours ago the development of a brand new flexible LCD display. The manufacturer calls this display panel Full Active Flex. According to the data so far, the company has decided to use a so-called plastic substrate for production, for both sides of the liquid crystal layers. This technology makes it possible to display curved shapes precisely because of its flexibility.

Japan Display Inc. among other things, it revealed that it used such plastic substrates that can even prevent the display from cracking. If you are "clumsy" and your phones fall out of your hands, you will certainly appreciate this gadget in the future. JDI also answered the question of when the displays will be put into series production. It is said that we will see new LCD displays in 2018 at the earliest.
