Samsung has Apple they have been litigating together for more than five years. The case has been through so many courtrooms that we've lost count. Now both companies are going back to where it all started.

The Supreme Court recently ruled in favor of Samsung. The court stated that the damages related to copying the design were caused by the individual components. However, Samsung was initially believed to have copied the entire design of the device, which has now been proven to be a false claim. Therefore, it is very difficult to calculate potential damages based on all sales of Samsung phones.

However, following this verdict, the US Court of Federal Circuit decided to bring the entire lawsuit back to its roots. Back to where it all began - the District Court of California. Here, both companies should settle the matter together.

“While the company's original requests Apple continued, Samsung decided to file a completely new claim for damages. Instead, we moved the entire case back to the district court for further proceedings,” the CAFC stated.
