Samsung announced that its 2017 QLED TV series, which was first introduced at the CES 2017 in Las Vegas, has received a certificate from the world-class testing and certification association Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE) confirming its ability to produce 100% color volume . VDE granted the certificate based on its own expertise in the field of color volume testing. The verification is a sign of the QLED TV's ability to provide users with consistently high picture quality.

Color volume, a demanding standard for color expression, measures two properties of a TV within a three-dimensional space – color gamut and brightness level. The color gamut indicates the highest number of colors that can be physically displayed. The highest brightness value represents the maximum brightness level of the display. The larger the color gamut and the higher the brightness, the larger the color volume of the TV. QLED TVs have expanded the volume of colors and the resulting HDR image is even more realistic, accurate and vivid than ever before. QLED TV can accurately interpret the content creator's intent, both in bright and dark scenes.

In general, as the brightness of an image increases, the ability to reproduce detailed colors decreases, and this leads to color distortion. However, Samsung QLED TV overcomes the compromise between brightness and color levels. Although the image presents itself with peak brightness ranging from 1500 to 2 nits, QLED TV is the first in the world to express 000 percent color volume.

"The mark of 100% color volume confirms the perfection of QLED TVs and their revolutionary picture quality. We've been at the forefront of TV manufacturers for eleven years and are excited to introduce our industry to the world of Quantum dot displays, which represent the highest picture quality available," said JongHee Han, executive vice president of Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business.
