Almost every owner of a Gear VR headset will agree with others that the South Korean virtual reality glasses lack a controller. This is what Samsung decided to change now at MWC 2017, showing the world an updated version of the Gear VR, which also includes a new controller.

The main control element of the controller is a circular touchpad, which supports several different movement gestures, including the ability to focus on something, use the drag and drop function, tilt and, of course, click on selected elements or perhaps shoot in the game. In addition to the mentioned touchpad, the controller also offers Home, Back and then an element for volume control.

First look at the new Gear VR controller from Engadget:

A gyroscope and an accelerometer are hidden inside the controller, which should improve interaction with the world of virtual reality and thus enrich, for example, the games themselves. A handy accessory, which is included in the package, is a loop that ensures that the controller does not fall out of the hand during quick movements.

The Gear VR glasses themselves have a strap where you place the controller when not in use. The new version of the glasses differs only slightly from the original. It will thus offer 42 mm lenses, a field of view of 101 degrees and a weight of 345 grams. The only innovation is the technology that prevents dizziness during prolonged gaming. The headset supports both micro USB and USB-C devices, thanks to the included adapter.

The new Gear VR is thus compatible with Galaxy S7, S7 edge, Note5, S6 edge+, S6 and S6 edge. Samsung has not yet revealed when their new headset will be available, or how much we will pay for it if we are interested. We will inform you about all the news.
