Facebook is rumored to be making a big purchase. Now in his crosshairs is the company Oculus, which mainly deals with the development of VR or virtual reality technology. The world's largest social network is thus making it clear what direction it wants to take in the future.

Companies such as Samsung and Facebook are working together to produce a VR-enabled device, the Gear VR. While Facebook supplies the Oculus VR software, Samsung is working on developing the entire hardware concept. Some might argue that this partnership, between the largest smartphone vendor and the world's largest social network, is the real deal. Thanks to this, Samsung was able to sell many more Gear VR devices than, for example, competitors HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR.

The Mark Zuckerberg-run company has said it will bring 360-degree photo and video support to the Gear VR (which is powered by the Oculus VR system) as well within a few months. The official Facebook 360 application contains 4 basic parts:

  1. Explore - viewing 360° content
  2. Followed by – a category where you can find exactly the content your friends are watching
  3. Saved - where you can view all your saved content
  4. Timelines - View your own 360 moments to upload to the web later

There are currently more than 1 million 360-degree videos and over 25 million photos on Facebook. So it follows that there should be no problem with the content. In addition, you can create your own videos or photos, which you can then upload to the network.
