The latest data shared by the Strategy Analytics organization reveals that the South Korean company Samsung managed to maintain its position as the world's TOP seller in the field of smartphones last year. Right behind Samsung, i.e. in second place, was the biggest competitor Apple. In third place is the Chinese Huawei. Samsung reportedly managed to sell 308,5 million smartphones in 2016. The company reported an operating profit of $8,3 billion.

Apple's iPhone sales continued to be in a very respectable place, as Strategy Analytics found that the company managed to sell over 215,5 million units of its smartphones during the same period. Huawei sales were then divided into two categories – Honor and Ascend. Sales of the Honor division amounted to 72,2 million, and Ascend 65,7 million units.

Despite recent pressure on Samsung, mainly from the media and Chinese manufacturers, it remains a major smartphone seller. Analysts say that in order for Chinese manufacturers to sink the South Korean company, they will have to significantly improve their premium phones.
