SOCIETY Apple has been sourcing processors for its iPhones from South Korea's Samsung for quite some time, but in recent years Apple began sourcing chipsets from Taiwan's TSMC, and Samsung took a back seat. Even in this year's iPhone 8, in which the A11 (10nm) processor is supposed to tick, the chipset should be produced exclusively by TSMC.

According to new reports from South Korea, Samsung is very interested in re-establishing cooperation with the company Apple and would like to supply the Apple giant with processors for the next generation of iPhones. This year, Samsung is going to modernize its existing production lines and expand the capacity for the production of 10nm processors, thereby making room for the production of chipsets based on modern 7nm technology, thanks to which Samsung will gain a significant lead over Taiwan's TSMC.

Although nothing is certain for now, Samsung wants to be the main supplier of the A12 chips manufactured on the 7nm process, which should power iPhone 8s (iPhone 9). Business is business and disputes between South Korean Samsung and Cupertino Applem must simply aside.

Even if they try to be Apple maximally independent of Samsung, it's impossible. Apple Samsung needs it, as it is also supposed to be the exclusive supplier of curved OLED displays for this year iPhone 8. It must be added that even this year Apple could not do without the help of Samsung, in some cases iPhonech 6 is ticked by processors from Samsung, but they attracted attention mainly due to the fact that they were more energy-demanding than processors from Taiwan's TSMC.
